Inktrapment: Diamine Inkvent 2023 no. 17

I initially thought these inks resembled each other more! Behind door no. 17, we find another shimmer ink – Lavender Frost. The color is a dark and quite muted gray purple with silver shimmer. It has some subtle shading and appears moderately wet in the pen. Memory Lane from last year’s Inkvent, is also a dusky purple ink with silver shimmer. However, by comparison, it is much lighter and brighter than Lavender Frost. Frosted Orchid is also a purple Diamine…

Today, I had to bake gingerbread cookies before posting! Behind door 16, we find Merry & Bright, a rich, apple green ink with silver shimmer. There is also some shading and a slightly darker halo in wet areas. The ink seems quite wet. It’s tempting to compare it to Diamine’s own Golden Oasis, which has gold shimmer instead of silver, and is slightly lighter than Merry & Bright. After several days of color explosions, this ink came as a bit of a suprise. Walnut is a part of the standard line and is quite standard in every way. The color is a dark, slightly cool brown with minimal shading. In wet drops, it borders on black, and there’s also a hint of black sheen. The ink feels moderately wet. Looking at inks no. 11 to 15 together, there are substantial variations:Glacier has its silver shimmer overdose, Bah Humbug…

It probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Purple Edition Inkvent has many purple inks. Here is another one! The chameleon ink Rainbow’s End is a medium dark, violet blue without much shading. It features generous doses of pink or purple shimmer and a touch of coppery sheen. The ink feels a bit dry (or viscous?) in the pen. Fortunately, it seems the shimmer is quite evenly distributed. Is this the quirkiest ink in the entire calendar? Weeping Willow is labeled as a standard ink, but honestly it is more of a multishader. It sports a very light, greenish-brown hue with lage amounts of shading and highly visible pink undertones. The ink flows effortlessly, almost on the brink of watery or diluted. This ink truly needs a generous and broad nib to really shine. Weeping Willow reminded me of both Pilot Ina-ho and Robert Oster Avocado, but as…

My pictures do not do justice to this ink. Similar to Nightfall (Inkvent no. 5), this ink is over the top: an intense, saturated color, unusual shimmer, and a very wet flow. The name also resonates well with me – because how are we supposed to enjoy every moment when there is so much to do and so little time? I can’t deal! Oh well, enough of that. Bah Humbug is a chameleon ink in a deep burgundy red color…

Behind today’s door we find ink series number five! Glacier is from a new ink series Diamine has named Star Bright. It’s not easy to say what makes the Star Bright inks different from their other shimmering inks, but it might be the sheer amount of shimmer? Because Glacier has a significant amount of silver shimmer. The color is a fairly light ice blue with some shading. The ink itself seems moderately wet, but the silver shimmer ended up clogging…

Yesterday, in the Pen Addicts Norway Facebook group, someone was wondering why we haven’t seen any green inks yet. Today brings the first green ink in this year’s calendar! Velvet Emerald is a standard ink, but it also has a bit of a red sheen in wet areas. The color is a quite dark emerald green – or dark teal – with some nice shading. Initially, I thought I had many inks in this color, but I discovered that most…

Door number 9 reveals another chameleon ink. Moon Beam is a rather dark, gray ink with distinct green undertones (not really visible in the pictures!), and what looks like blue-purple shimmer. It seems a bit dry, but works well in the wet Pelikan nib I used. As seen in the picture above, it’s a bit darker than Diamine Moon Dust. Liv Mogstad Strickert is a regular contributor to Pennen er mektigere and will be posting daily ink reviews of Diamine’s…

I may have already found my favorite ink from the 2023 Inkvent. Jacaranda is a standard ink, with a very pale and almost luminous periwinkle color and some shading. In wet areas, it has some pink undertones and a darker purple halo. It might be a bit too pale for finer nibs, but the flow is excellent. Unlike the two Sailor inks in the picture above, Jacaranda isn’t really a multi shading ink, but there’s enough color variation to give…
